Training Courses

Overview

Training courses are available covering multiple different taxa and delivered across a range of venues covering much of Southern England. Courses are run on behalf of conservation organisations including the British Trust for Ornithology and local branches of the The Wildlife Trust’s whilst others are run independently.

Prices

Costs for each course can be found on the relevant partner organisations website and will vary between approx. £45-60 per day

Birds

Located at some of the best sites in the UK, this is your chance to learn how to identify birds under expert supervision whilst exploring local nature reserves and wildlife hot spots. Focusing either on bird identification and/or BTO survey techniques, these course aim to transform you into a more confident birdwatcher. Perfect for anyone who is new to birdwatching, wants to develop their ID skills or learn to take part in the BTO’s popular and vital volunteer surveys.

Mammals

Discover the world of Britain’s mammals on these one day introductory courses. Learn about the animals which make up this enigmatic group, how to find them and hopefully meet a few on the day! Perfect for the amateur and budding ecologist. Several outdoor practical’s included.

Learning outcomes:
– Gain an overview of British mammals and there basic ecology
– Be able to identify British mammals by sight or by using field signs
– Learn several techniques in order to find, survey and identify them
– Learn how to properly handle a small mammals under expert supervision
